Honolulu is riddled with small urban lots that are impossible to redevelop, but also present some unique design challenges - like how do you create living spaces with air and light, but also give residents privacy from neighboring buildings and block city noise? How should one design a multi-family residential building that opens up to the environment, but has no views? We came upon a sculpted tower concept. One where the sky is framed with large textured concrete walls. As you go up in level, the view opens up and neighboring buildings are hidden away. It’s an ephemeral oasis. A place to watch the passing of the day, and the ever changing light.
