Phase: Construction Documents (Permit Awarded)
An existing single-story house sitting on a perimeter lot overlooking a valley on Kauai, is getting a complete reconstruction of its rear facing elevation with a two-story addition that opens up to the view. The new structure, topped with an asymmetrical hipped roof, looks understated and contextual from the street façade, but dynamic and transparent from the rear. The design seeks to play off of the roof forms found on the island, but introduce a contemporary vocabulary. The interior spaces seek to provide fun and entertaining spaces for this family of six.
