st. louis heights bungalow

Unbuilt: 2022

This nearly hundred year old bungalow with its wood shingle exterior and steep double pitched roof has had a rough life, but has maintained its original character over the decades. A series of alterations and additions were added to the rear over the years, but we were tasked with creating a new, more open-air addition that focused on the views out of Diamond Head and town, shielding the south-west façade from afternoon light, but also responding to the language of the historic house. The new addition seeks to be respectful and responsive, but also contemporary and modern. A screened veil under a wide rimmed hat.
